my husband is disabled. back surgery went very wrong. we aplied as well, and didnt qualify due to they went by his last yrs tax return. well hello, we need help now. we did get foot stamps, and we do have help on our electric bill. we did get a calif medical card, but our deductible was 2489.00 a month. i actually thought it was a mastake, or for the yr. no, the worker said its monthly. i said, ok you can have it back. that is why so many lie on the paper due to if they told the truth they wouldnt qualify. its a sad situation, and we wonder no one really gets help unless by accident they found a foundation to help them. there are alot of foundations, just have to catch them at the right time, do you need medications? i know of a site for free prescription meds. and for help. it wasnt just 3 yrs ago. that is what i did. help alot of people. even took in family's in my home and feed them. and put a roof over there head. took the kids to school, went to there open house, etc. i just happened to love these kids. my husband and i did this for years. now the boat is turned around and we need help at times. we both dont work, i care for him, then when we needed anything. the door was closed. have you ever been treated so much differently when you ask for help? i sure have noticed. the way i look at it. all is good, and our life will just get better. patience is what its all about. good luch to you.

We are having the same problem. We have been without electricity since the 8th of October. My husband is the only working right now (I'm trying to find a job) and they say we don't qualify for stuff. We have 4 kids!! They don't see the loan payments and overdrafts, etc. that come out. I have tried churches, social service organizations, individuals and more with no luck! Even worse, the state (I'm from Kansas) could care less about the people who live here. They only want your tax dollars to pay their salary. So be it for the people who are actually trying to do good. Keep your head up! If I could help I would!

I'm in the same boat I don't qualify for anything, I've tried. They see only what we bring in and say according to that we should have x amount of money left over. What they wouldn't see is the past debts that take us into our overdraft every month.

you would qualify for all sorts of help...call churches and the local state office, they will help and give you numbers to other places that help as well...

HOW COULD YOU NOT QUALIFY FOR ASSITANCE? ARE YOU SURE??? JUST HAVING CHILDREN QUALIFY'S YOU IN CA. YOU CAN GO TO ANY NON PROFIT AND APPLY FOR ENERGY ASST. IT IS FUNDED BY THE GOVT. AND THROUGH YUR LOCAL ELECTRIC COMPANY YOU USE. ARE YOU FROM cA?? WHAT STATE ARE YOU FROM? LET ME KNOW, I MAY BE ABLE TO DIRECT YOU IN THE RIGHT CORNER FOR HELP...

I am a single mother of three 11,6, and 2. We are desperate for help. We had no electricity for 5 days last week and today they turned off my water. After paying a heafty deposit to turn on the electric checks bounced food and gas are down to almost nothing. My car's windows will not roll up and my door is tied shut. What can i do? Can anyone tell me of some sort of help for us. We are right above the poverty level and do not qualify for government assisstance. I can't catch up!
